Oxana, University Preparation Program
- What is your experience in teaching French ?
I have been teaching French for 20 years. After my university education, I started my career as a lecturer, in particular in the National Linguistic University of Kiev. My Phd was on the application of new technologies to languages in Kiev.
- What led you to create the University Preparation Program ?
I have extensive experience in assessment and certification. Indeed, in Ukraine, I was a member of the jury DELF/DALF and I was in charge of the conception of the exams.
Currently, I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Paris that is in charge of the TEF tests. Within this team, I am one of the writers of the tests and a member of the committee that evaluates the tests.
- What is the purpose of the University Preparation Program ?
It helps students to prepare for a French test or simply to feel at ease with techniques of studies necessary for a career path at the university.
- Which tests does the University Preparation Program prepare you for ?
We review the techniques for oral and written expression that are most frequently used during exams. They are usually TCF (for DAP), TCF (for everybody), DELF (B2), DALF (C1), TEF. Some of the students also prepare for competitive examinations.
- Do you focus on written or oral exercises during the course ?
We work on essays such as summaries and commentaries on a text. Students learn to construct a plan to present their written work.
Much time is reserved for written expression. The choice of the grammar points varies according to the types of writing. Specific needs of students are also taken into account.
- How do the students prepare themselves for the exams ?
Students regularly take mock exams. They are corrected in class and explanations are given along with tips on how to be successful.
- What would you recommend to students that take the TCF exam in 2 months ?
In order to be successful, I strongly recommend students to take an accelarated course : the University Preparation Program + General French Program.
